Menthol Cigarette Myths: What's True and What's Not

Quick Answer

Menthol cigarettes aren't necessarily stronger or safer than regular ones, but the cooling effect can mask harshness, making them easier to inhale. Capsule options like Kent Menthol Switch let you control the menthol intensity, but the health risks remain the same.

Myth vs. Fact: Verdicts

• Myth: Menthol cigarettes are stronger than regular ones: False. Menthol doesn't add nicotine or tar. It only provides a cooling sensation that can make the smoke feel smoother, which some smokers misinterpret as strength.
• Myth: Menthol cigarettes are safer because they feel cooler: False. The cooling effect can mask harshness, making it easier to inhale more deeply, but the health risks are the same as regular cigarettes. Remember, a smoother feel doesn't mean lower risk.
• Myth: Crushing the capsule always means more menthol: True for capsule cigarettes. Crushing the bead releases additional menthol flavor, but you can choose not to crush it to keep the original taste. Experiment with capsule cigarettes to find your preferred intensity.
